Advantages of using aluminum for CNC machining parts

Although there are countless aluminum alloys with varying degrees of characteristics, there are also some basic characteristics that are applicable to all aluminum alloys.
Processability
Aluminum can quickly form, manufacture, and process under the influence of various processing processes. Aluminum can be quickly and easily cut by machine tools because of its soft texture, ease of cutting, affordable price, and lower force required for processing steel. These features are great advantages for both mechanics and customers ordering parts. Moreover, the high-quality processing performance of aluminum means that it is less prone to deformation during the processing. Given that it can enable CNC machine tools to achieve higher tolerance, its accuracy will be higher.
specific strength
The density of aluminum is about one-third of that of steel. The quality is relatively lighter. Despite its light weight, aluminum has a very high strength. This combination of strength and weight is called the specific strength of the material. The high specific strength of aluminum makes it suitable for making many industrial parts, such as in the automotive and aerospace industries.
Corrosion resistance
Aluminum is resistant to scratches and corrosion in conventional marine and atmospheric environments. By anodizing, this characteristic can also be enhanced. It should be noted that the corrosion resistance of aluminum materials of different levels also varies. The most conventional and ordinary CNC machining level actually has the strongest resistance.
Low temperature performance
Most materials lose some high-quality characteristics below zero degrees Celsius. For example, carbon steel and rubber become brittle at low temperatures. Aluminum can actually maintain its softness, ductility, and strength at extremely low temperatures.
Conductivity
The conductivity of pure aluminum is approximately 37.7 million Siemens per meter at room temperature. Although aluminum alloy has lower conductivity than pure aluminum, it is already sufficient for application in electronic components. On the other hand, if the ideal characteristic of a machined part is not conductivity, aluminum will not be a suitable material for it.
Recyclability
Due to the fact that CNC machining is a material reduction manufacturing process, a large amount of chips, also known as waste, are generated. Aluminum has strong recyclability, requiring relatively little energy, effort, and cost for recycling. This makes it highly favored among those who want to recoup expenses or reduce material waste. It also makes aluminum a more environmentally friendly processing material.
Anodization possibility
Anodizing is a surface processing process that improves the material's resistance to wear and corrosion, which is extremely easy to achieve for aluminum. This process also makes it easier to color aluminum parts during processing.
