Material limitations
Although high-end industrial printing can achieve printing on plastics, certain metals, or ceramics, materials that cannot be printed are relatively expensive and scarce. In addition, printers have not yet reached a mature level and cannot support various materials encountered in daily life.
Researchers have made some progress in multi material printing, but unless these advances reach maturity and effectiveness, materials will still be a major obstacle to 3D printing.
Machine limitations
3D printing technology has achieved a certain level of proficiency in reconstructing the geometric shape and functionality of objects. Almost any static shape can be printed, but moving objects and their clarity are difficult to achieve. This difficulty may be solvable for manufacturers, but if 3D printing technology wants to enter ordinary households where everyone can freely print what they want, then the limitations of machines must be addressed.
Concerns about intellectual property
In the past few decades, there has been an increasing focus on intellectual property in the music, film, and television industries. 3D printing technology also involves this issue, as many things in reality will be more widely disseminated. People can copy anything at will, and the quantity is unlimited. How to establish laws and regulations for 3D printing to protect intellectual property is also one of the problems we face, otherwise there will be rampant phenomena.
Moral challenges
Morality is the bottom line. It is difficult to define what kind of thing will violate moral laws, and if someone prints out biological organs and living tissues, they will face great moral challenges in the near future.
Cost bearing
The cost of 3D printing technology is high. The price of the first 3D printer is 15000 yuan. If you want to popularize it to the public, price reduction is necessary, but it will also conflict with costs.
Every new technology faces similar obstacles in its early stages, but we believe that finding a reasonable solution will accelerate the development of 3D printing technology, just like any rendering software, constantly updating can achieve ultimate perfection.
