The molds used in the injection molding process are mostly made of aluminum and/or steel. As long as there are defects on the surface of the molds, even the smallest defects can be reflected in the final formed parts. If these marks are not removed by sandblasting or polishing, the machining marks of mechanical tools will remain on the finished product. In most cases, there is no problem with tool marks inside parts that cannot be observed by the naked eye, and this will not have any impact on the appearance and function of the parts.
However, those exposed surfaces often require additional processing. Almost all molds undergo varying degrees of polishing, but of course, the finer the polishing, the higher the cost of the mold and the longer the manufacturing time for the mold.
